8:1 In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth of the month, ²  as I was sitting in my house with the elders of Judah sitting in front of me, the hand ³  of the sovereign Lord seized me. ⁴

If one follows the LXX in verse 25, then five distinct groups are mentioned in vv. 25-29: princes, priests, officials, prophets, and the people of the land. [22:25]  ⁷ tn Heb “her widows they have multiplied.” The statement alludes to their murderous acts.

[9:2]  ⁸ tn Heb “into Sheol” (so ASV, NASB, NRSV), that is, the land of the dead localized in Hebrew thought in the earth’s core or the grave. Cf. KJV “hell”; NCV, NLT “the place of the dead”; NIV “the depths of the grave.”
